I got a little scouting report on Howard from a local friend who follows the minors more closely than I do. He said Howard has the type of stuff that would get him to the big leagues (probably as a 4-5 starter), but only if he were a lefty. As a righty, he probably doesn't stand out enough to make it that far (at least successfully).
I can kind of see what he's saying. His strikeout rate is decent, but he gives up plenty of hits and is kind of a neutral GB/FB pitcher. He's also maybe a tad old for a legit AA prospect at 24, and I'm now at the age where that's terribly weird for me to say.
On the bright side, he's never had an ERA over 4, and he has successfully made the often-difficult transition to the high minors.
You can't help but root for a Chattanooga/Ooltewah guy to make it to the bigs. Howard and Kyler Burke are the best chances right now.

As much as I'm rooting for him, I have trouble seeing him as anything more than a middle reliever.
